Roger Dubuis - The 2014 Hommage Collection
Jul 20, 2014,09:32 AM
Roger Dubuis founded his manufactured in 1995, and created watches as
tribute to his teachers and friends whom had helped him during his
journey of learning the art of watchmaking. Thus the name 'Hommage'.
This year, a new 'Hommage Series' in honour of Mr Roger Dubuis is created by a new generation at Roger Dubuis Maison.
Still
featuring the same classic design and traditional watchmaking but with a
bold refinement in aesthetic and all Poinçon de Genève certified. The
pieces also have Mr Roger Dubuis’ signature on the sapphire caseback of
the watch.
Let's have some a quick look at the new 'Hommage Series' prototypes ...
Hommage Flying Tourbillon Tribute to Roger Dubuis
This
Hommage Flying Tourbillon Tribute to Roger Dubuis, is simply
beautiful. The vintage-look just exudes a classic elegant which is also
my favourite.
45mm pink gold case with alternate polishing -
brush and gloss polished. Cambered caseband with short quick-drop
lugs-design for good wearability even on small wrists.
Very
readable contrasting dial layout, with alternate circles radiating out
from the centre of the white lacquer dial with pink gold rings and
hour-appliques.
Big date is framed with a gold rectangular frame.
Gold signed crown. Lugs are beveled (no sharp points) for the comfort of the owner.
Tourbillon carriage in the shape of a celtic cross.
On the other side of the cambered caseband, beside the date-corrector, is the serial number of the watch.
Limited to 208 pieces. '208' was Mr Roger Dubuis' student registration number during his time in Geneva Watchmaking School.
Mr Roger Dubuis' signature on the rim of the pink gold caseback, giving an unobstructed view of the decorated Calibre RD540.
“Côtes
de Genève” on the rhodium-plated bridges and perlage on the platine.
The RD540 beats at 3Hz and has a power reserve of 60 hours.
Hommage Double Flying Tourbillon in white gold with Hand-made Guilloché The
Hommage Double Flying Tourbillon is 'dial-free' piece in 45mm white
gold case. The dial is the back of the decorated platine/mainplate
itself. A daring execution as any mishap during hand-guilloche
process, will render the dial, no, the whole platine to be scrapped.
That not it, even during assembling and encasing, great care has to be taken not to scratch the surface.
A closer look at the aesthetic work ... very captivating.
3D effect with multi-layer construction with raised charcoal grey flange and raised Roman hour-appliques (brush-polished).
Similar attractive cambered caseband with dual polishing.
Sapphire caseback with Mr Roger Dubuis’ signature metallised on the sapphire crystal.
Not
a limited edition for the white gold model, except for the white-gold
with baguette diamonds setting (limited to 28 pieces) and the pink gold
with pink gold movement (limited to 88 pieces).
Calibre
RD100 beats at 3Hz and has a power reserve of 50 hours. Bridges are
rhodium-plated and Circular “Côtes de Genève” decorated.
Hommage Chronograph Comes in pink gold and white gold versions, both are regular production pieces.
Above is the 42mm pink gold version.
Same exquisite dial execution as the Hommage Double Tourbillon.
The Roman hour-appliques are of pink gold with frosted surface.
30-minute Chronograph counters is at 3H subdial. At 9H, it is the small second. Central chronograph second-hand.
Signed pink gold crown and beautifully finished pushers.
Sapphire
caseback with Mr Roger Dubuis’ signature metallised on the sapphire
crystal giving a clear view of the automatic Calibre RD680 with a
micro-rotor and column-wheel.
RD680 beats at 4Hz and has a power reserve of 52 hours.
The white gold version of the Hommage Chronograph.
Looks really good.
Hommage AutomaticHommage Automatic comes in 3 variations - white gold, pink gold and pink gold with pave set diamond bezel.
All are regular production models.
Still in the good wearable size of 42mm diameter.
Same dial work and technique applied to the aesthetic. Simple and yet elegant time-only model with small-second at 9H subdial.
Pink gold model.
Pink gold model with pave set diamonds (about total of 1 carat) on the bezel.
18K
gold caseback with Mr Roger Dubuis’ Signature metallised on the
sapphire crystal, showcasing the decorated movement of RD620, which
beats at 4Hz and has a power reserve of 52 hours.
18K gold pin buckle and alligator leather strap.
A wristshot of
the white gold Hommage Automatic.
This
set of 2014 Hommage Collections are really beautiful. I like the
Hommage Flying Tourbillon Tribute to Roger Dubuis, will be even better
if the dial is grand feu enamel.
The rest of the Hommage models are great too, and best part, they have no date, just the way I like it
