Which is totally uncalled for. I can understand why he needs to l*** the a*****e of Rolex. But just because he’s got a Lemans Daytona doesn’t mean he knows Rolex better or that his views are more correct than ours. This year’s offerings are NOT an instant hit with the collectors save the yellow gold Lemans Daytona and maybe the platinum 1908. So it’s been an uninspiring show from Rolex for sure. That said, we can’t win all the time. It’s OK to have uninspiring moments. At least that gives us a reason to hope for a better 2025 and beyond. In my view Rolex has done very well over the years. My feeling is that they do it better than Patek. It’s very clear to me that the new Patek is by and large not suited to my tastes. I’ve been collecting for awhile, I can’t be that wrong with how badly performing Patek is these days. Almost everything (save the sports watches) sold on the secondary market is going for less than retail. So bottom line is I trust my own judgement more than what Wei is saying. But I can only pass judgement on the watches after having meaningful discussions here on the forum with our members and other watch aficionados.

This year there's literally nothing in the Rolex lineup that it's worth a second of my time. Not only that, now that the Deepsea abandoned the Sea-Dweller moniker we have a product line with a model without that definition (the "standard" Deepsea) and a m...

But when blatantly one exclusively praises everything, and tries to hide the paid nature of the work under the fanfare of endless trash talking and looking, I start to develop an allergy of sorts

The entire affair is quite

underwhelming for me. Did not know many others felt the same but that’s how it struck me. Nothing really grabbed me.
I am ungrabbed too.

He does his job, everything is great and works perfectly. W&W has many watches but little (if none) wonders, and that's absolutely normal, because brands like Rolex and Patek live of continuity rather than real innovation (mechanical or design).
He's having fun.

Imho the goal in life is *more happiness*. Wei's Max B interview on YT from W&W 2024 is entertaining AND informative. Plus Max is such a cool guy on so many levels. . . (Friendly humor) In fact Wei only really needs to interview Max & his friends....
I’ve liked Hodinkee coverage so far.

I think it’s fair. As far as releases, many had little hope for this year. Although that YG LeMans Daytona is 🔥🔥🔥.
IMO this year is weakest Rolex novelties as far as i know.

Nothing interesting except new dial colours ,new gold case...i guess these called "improvements" in rolex book. Same happen at Scaffhausen. JLC does not care about average customers...they desperately want to be at the top with the holy trinity. Let them ...

Does anyone know the manufacturing lead time at Rolex?

It feels like they're 5 years behind the times. As most trends are leaning smaller...Rolex decides it's a good idea to go full gold Deep Sea after the TT Sea Dweller (that was/is a flop).
Can't say I do...

But Rolex as a company does move at a glacial pace in many departments.

Interviewing people from Patek, Rolex during release I have to switch off.. Talks too much about his watch knowledge and then proceeds to talk over them / doesn’t let the person speak. Fawns about how great every release is.. Just say it like it is, if yo...

I do not like any of the new ones…not one bit…in fact I think all of the companies have put out boring releases…I hoped Panerai may have a comeback, but, don’t care for their release(s). I think Tudor has good ones…starting to like their products far more...
