Thanks … NEO vintage

Sep 22, 2023,07:15 AM

Mine are NEO vintage and not vintage. Just important to make that distinction. 1990s and such are neo vintage and user the macaluso family ownership.

I believe that knowledge level of the prices from the 1990s and such is very shallow. The information is out there but one has to dig. The average guy walks into the AD and buys what they say. Or watches a couple of YouTube videos.

It’s not in the brands interest nor the ADs nor the bulk of the grey market big boys to highlight neo vintage. They can’t make any money if a collector buys it as they will be preowned.

Other brands that are more famous and who may have longer term approach will promote their past pieces as they know that history is so relevant to the present in terms of demand. They will also buy back neo vintage pieces from auction Houses and such.

All this things are what GP does not do or rarely do at least.

So this “secret” stash of GP neo vintage pieces are sometimes forgotten. And sometimes they are confused with other more generic GP pieces. Not all neo vintage is highly collectible.

What I’m trying to do is share what I know. I have been messaged by some collectors to not share so much. Some want the secret kept secret.

I subscribe to the school of transparency and sharing. I also think of brand above self.

GP and other collectors would/could/should awaken to some of the GP neo vintage pieces as they can be extremely high end, rare and they sold for many thousands of dollars in the past to the Uber rich.

This is an opportunity to pick them up on pennies on the dollar.

Some are afraid of vintage. I am afraid of vintage. 1950s to 1980 or so +-

But neo vintage is different. They are safe. Modern production methods. Past the quartz crisis and where Swiss brands became brave and innovative again. Look for pieces such as the ref 2498 and 2499 and see how wonderful (and affordable they are). Ref 4940 too. Ref 8010 and ref 8017 too.

Final point is that this laureato 41 mm ref 81000 is from 2016. So I would consider this a heritage modern piece albeit all sold out and a limited edition. So secondary market is where they are today.

Thanks for you question and sorry for my long answer ❤️🙏

Friends, I present the “White lion” 225 …. ref 81000 Remember that this LE was a prototype of sorts to test the market, as this was to become a pillar of the brand. GP made only 225 pieces to mark the 225th anniversary of the Maison 2016. Designer Stefano...

Thanks 🙏

Yes, this version of the laureato 41 mm is a rare bird and one of those pieces that is going for cheap on the secondary market for those that don’t know what they have. I have a feeling that this will change soon. Stefano designing the 41 mm. Inspiration ...

Aaah, Stefano's notebook... ;)

Have met Luigi. He was a force to be reconned with from what I read. I have had the pleasure to speak with Stefano. A real gentleman. He has a true love for ALL watches. A collector himself. Other brands too. I like that.

Version 000 of 225

 By: MCG (Markus) : September 21st, 2023-17:54
So there are 226 in fact! 🤩 Never thought they would sell a 000 version…

Not quite … but nice observation

 By: SingaporeMarc : September 22nd, 2023-06:49
GP informed me that one number was removed… I think it was 13 as sole are superstitious (I personally like the number 13 on the roulette table) 😊 So that is why the 000/225 was made and sold (to me). Usually the 000 is a prototype and kept by the designer...

Looking good!

That’s been my experience with the Laureato as well, both 38 and 42 wear a mm or two smaller than the specs. Do you notice the size difference between the 42 mm and the 41 mm on your wrist? I always wonder what a 40 mm Laureato would wear / look like on m...

Yes, a clear difference to me

 By: SingaporeMarc : September 22nd, 2023-06:53
And why I advocate folks to grab the 41 mm over the 42 if possible. Or get both. 😊 I’ll make Another post on the differences. I have done a few already and if you search under my profile name, you will see them. Here is teaser of the 42 mm on the left and...

Glad you see it too 😀

The 41 mm is the “40 mm” that so many keep clamouring for. It’s already here. One just has to be clever to grab it at damn cheap prices still. One can be sure they if GP ever were to crate a 40 mm laureato, it is going to be in the USD 17-18 K price range...

Exactly right?

 By: Derreck : September 22nd, 2023-07:23
Since you say it wears abt 1 mm smaller, the 41 is the 40 everyone is looking for!

Bingo 🙌 imagine if Tim Mosso

Did a short video on it … Boom 💥

Refined, cool. Smooth and pleasing to the eyes in telling time. 👍

Absolute stunner!

Why oh why do we not see current offerings like this?!

Well, one could say the 42 mm laureato

 By: SingaporeMarc : September 22nd, 2023-06:57
Is the current offering. I think the bigger question is why are there still a few “cheap” 41 mm on c24’and such? I think the seller don’t know the significance yet of what they have. And perhaps many newbie collectors of the laureato don’t understand the ...

Thank you 🙏

There are no silver/white dial 225 41 mm ref 81000 available at any AD from what I know. All sold out. If you wanted one, you would need to look at C24 and such. Are you referring yo the 42 mm instead ? 🤔

Yes, I was referring to the 42mm.

 By: ArmisT : September 22nd, 2023-14:55
I will give a try next time at AD, but I don’t expect it to have same impact as yours. But i’m keeping an open mind.👍🏽

Oh the 42 mm is totally different

 By: SingaporeMarc : September 22nd, 2023-16:32
The whole reason for my post was to say that the 41 mm is the rare bird. The 42 mm is not. Look on c24 under “laureato 81000” for the 41 mm if you want something with provenance and is rare. Good luck 👍🏻

Thanks … NEO vintage

Yes! "Neo"! I understood the era you are focusing on (and why) but left out a key word. No problem on the long response as I appreciate thorough and accurate communication.
