Today's choice : the Breitling Premier.

Except for the Navitimer I never really considered Breitling.
Most of their watches were just too big,too extrovert and too much bling for my liking.
The new leadership has however radically changed the direction of the brand towards more classically inspired watches with a lot of focus on better wearability.
Perhaps the best proof of this new direction is the Premier Chronograph.
A vintage inspired design in a modern package with very reasonable dimensions : 42 mm diameter, below 14 mm height and below 50 mm lug to lug width.
They have quite a few nice dial variations. Mine is the "Bentley" version with the "racing green" dial.
The green dial is in reality very discreet and seems almost black in many light situations.
A special mention for the inhouse chronograph movement which, according to the watchmaker of my AD, is amongst the very best from a technical point of view.
I believe that this a very fine modern chronograph with the legendary quality and attention to detail that Breitling is famous for.
At the chosen price point there is virtually no competition other than the 9xxx powered chronographs from Omega.
The only small negative is that manual crown winding is extremely tough (almost painful) and should be revisited by Breitling.
Thanks for looking,
Gerard
