This new DeBethune release DB28xs Purple Rain awayshows DB’s mastery of heated titanium to create this striking purple hue. I know there are many fans of purple here, so I expect some waves of excitement over this new release. Source: DB site ...  

but as overall design it isn’t “wow” for select reasons. First and foremost, the numbering around the edge seems almost like an afterthought.

I think De Bethune is doing great things and this is an interesting watch for sure. I am however unsure if this is grail quality or have the means to withstand the test of time to become a classic or a “blue chip”. Best Gatsbh

Even so, aside from the colored titanium, in the whole DB catalogue this particular DB28 design doesn’t rank high.

I have the normal Xs with blue dial and I can say it’s one of the best watches I have specially for the size

a lot of it. I prefer the regular (first) iteration of the DB28 case myself but the X is also nice. Just a matter of preference. What I don’t particularly care for is the horizontal guilloche lines. I’d rather see a plain dial with stars/Milky way in gold...

I wonder how a purple version of their DB28 Kind of Blue, or Tourbillon would look🤔. Maybe too much purple, but I am a sucker for that color.

I suppose they could have used a black zirconium case like they did in another piece before. Or just kept the usual titanium colored case.

What bothers me most is the numbers around the edge. I do often wonder how certain design decisions are made by brands.🤔

But I think that much purple is hard VS the blue variant they have, which seems easier to pull off. Cool to see regardless. They make a lot of interesting pieces.

And to be seen more in the concept vein - i.e. what is possible. Now most if not all DB customers have a vast collection of other watches, so adding a purple one might be a nice little experiment 😊👌🏻👍🏻

Sorry friends, but in my opinion, this shows Swiss watchmaking is at post-peak desperation to attract attention.

It is nice. By DB standards it is quiet and understated watch, which is cool but not shouting from your wrist as others. The colour, the hands, the font on the dial - everything is very nice. Is it my favorite from the collection? No. Do I like it and see...

but the pictures I’ve seen makes this DB28 look universally wearable. Now I understand why that is.👍🏽

Once again, unlike it's often bright blue and larger siblings this one is relatively quiet and easy to wear both in terms of color and size. I, personally, have absolutely nothing against the larger canvas for these masterpieces, but can see the logic for...
